Bach Violin Sonatas, featuring Stephen Prutsman, Geoff Nuttall 2016

Saturday, July 9, 2:30 PM PDT

$12 – $39

PrutsmanThe rapturous music of J. S. Bach opens the 2016 Festival with all six of the rarely heard sonatas for violin and piano.

Described as the “Jon Stewart of chamber music,” violin virtuoso Geoff Nuttall redefines what a chamber concert can be, with his creative daring and flair for entertaining. Nuttall is known for his ability to juxtapose the ridiculous with the sublime and is first violinist of the St. Lawrence String Quartet. In partnership with audience favorite, world-renowned pianist Stephen Prutsman, he will perform some of the most beautiful, haunting melodies ever written. The six sonatas span the gamut from tender, light, and airy, to the exuberance of a Brandenburg Concerto, full of dances and fun. It will be an afternoon of chamber music you will never forget, under the spell of these superb musicians.
