Spend the day on the Mendocino Headlands enjoying the music and culture of Japan with an Umi no Hi Day Pass that includes this authentic Japanese box supper, or purchase your bento tickets separately. Enjoy it in the seaside picnic area by the Tent Concert Hall, or anywhere you like; it’s portable! Proceeds from your bento purchase will benefit Otsuchi, Japan, the sister city of Fort Bragg that was devastated by a tsunami.

Bento (弁当 bentō) is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento holds rice, fish or meat, with pickled or cooked vegetables, usually in a box-shaped container. Containers range from disposable mass produced to hand crafted lacquerware. Bento are readily available in many places throughout Japan, including convenience stores, bento shops (弁当屋 bentō-ya), railway stations, and department stores.
