Debussy: The Dancehall, War, and Classicism

Sat, July 25, 2:30 PM

| $15 – $30

This varied concert of Debussy’s later works will range from a rhapsody for clarinet and piano, with Peter Josheff and Susan Waterfall, to dancehall music, etudes, and a two-piano suite with Susan and Carolyn Steinbuck. Soprano Kindra Scharich and pianist Jeff LaDuer will perform some of Debussy’s most moving last songs. Fittingly, the concert will culminate with the final piece Debussy wrote, his Sonata for Violin and Piano in G minor, with Hrabba Atladottir and Miles Graber.

As July approaches, we’ll continue following the official recommendations of Mendocino County Health Officer Dr. Noemi Doohan. In the event of cancellation, ticket buyers will be contacted and offered a range of options, including an immediate refund of the full value of their purchased ticket(s).

“Waterfall’s productions always present exciting, absorbing playing of great music, but are also rare, distinctive examples of what can be called music education, though they’re more conversational, truly a sharing of perspective, interest, anecdote. There’s a sense of immediacy to her delivery, weaving in and out of the playing, an intimately conceived present awareness of this heritage. It’s something unique that needs to be experienced.” Ken Bullock, Berkeley Daily Planet
