SUMMARY:Blind Boys of Alabama
DESCRIPTION:The Blind Boys of Alabama have the rare distinction of being recognized around the world as both living legends and modern-day innovators.  They are not just gospel singers borrowing from old traditions; the group helped to define those traditions in 20th century and almost single-handedly created a new gospel sound for the 21st.  Since the original members first sang together as kids at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in the late 1930s (including Jimmy Carter\, who leads the group today)\, the band has persevered through seven decades to become one of the most recognized and decorated roots music groups in the world.\n\n\n	\n Public ticket sales begin May 6\, 2026\, at noon Pacific. SUMMARY:Kalil Amar Wilson
DESCRIPTION:Kalil Wilson’s bright re-imaginings of jazz standards and originals are informed by the rich history of great jazz singing and meld with their heartfelt\, eclectic stylings. An Oakland native\, they are the offsping of Nigerian bassist/bandleader Babá Ken Okulolo and an American mom with a record collection of vintage jazz\, African\, R&B\, and salsa. Mentored by the Oakland Youth Chorus and the Young Musicians Program at UC Berkeley\, they then went on to UCLA’s Voice and Opera program while earning an honors degree in ethnomusicology. Yet they found themself gravitating back to jazz\, and were encouraged in that pursuit by jazz legend Kenny Burrell. Since their first album\, “Easy to Love\,” critics and audiences alike have fallen in love with their music.\nKalil has the gift! I know it when I hear it. He is anointed.”- Carlos Santana \n\n\n\n\n	\n Public ticket sales begin May 6\, 2026\, at noon Pacific. Want early access to tickets\, before public sales open? SUMMARY:Festival Big Band\, featuring Maiya Sykes
DESCRIPTION:This year the big band musicians are going to find their groove with Maiya Sykes\, a former back-up singer whose rendition of “Stay with Me” on The Voice in 2014 catapulted her to lead singer fame. Based in Los Angeles\, Sykes is a classically trained musician who graduated from Yale and studied with Betty Carter and Nina Simone. Her recent recording—a big band tribute to Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley—showcases her mastery of this music and augurs well for a rocking\, jazzy evening.Do I get a bit of Aretha? Yes. Do I get a bit of Gladys Knight? Yes.”- Pharrell on The Voice \n\n\n\n	\n Public ticket sales begin May 6\, 2026\, at noon Pacific. Want early access to tickets\, before public sales open? SUMMARY:Calder Quartet 2023
DESCRIPTION:Hailed as “imaginative\, skillful creators” by the New York Times\, the Calder Quartet captivates audiences with its explorations of a broad repertoire\, always striving to fulfill the composer’s vision in their performances. The group’s distinctive artistry is exemplified by the musical curiosity they bring to everything they perform. This concert will feature Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major\, the only one he wrote\, which owes a clear debt to Debussy\, and Schubert’s String Quartet in G Major\, his last and greatest quartet\, with its lyrical ideas and major and minor modes.\nThe players …are particularly good at producing a beautifully rounded and unified sound\, as well as showing a generous sense of musical camaraderie.”- Los Angeles Times \n\n\n	\n \n2023 Featured Composer: Maurice Ravel\n \nFor 2023\, Susan Waterfall’s composer series will feature the innovative and influential Maurice Ravel. Immerse yourself in his world and his music\, and understand how his music evolved over his lifetime with narrated chamber recitals featuring exciting guest artists\, and various other settings of Ravel’s work across the Festival. \nExplore the Series \nWaterfall’s productions always present exciting\, absorbing playing of great music\, but are also rare\, distinctive examples of what can be called music education\, though they’re more conversational\, truly a sharing of perspective\, interest\, anecdote. SUMMARY:California Bluegrass Reunion
DESCRIPTION:Every year since 2012\, banjo master Bill Evans brought together a stellar collection of banjo players from all over the world and joined them with an all-star California-based band to present his California Banjo Extravaganza. In 2021\, Bill changed the format to a gathering of well-loved bluegrass musicians with strong California connections. These musicians have made music together in different combinations for decades and this concert features both their new and original compositions. The collective is highlighted by the double fiddling of acoustic legend Darol Anger and Chad Manning\, and abundant original instrumentals from mandolinist John Reischman and banjo player Bill Evans. The anchoring rhythm is provided by Jim Nunally on guitar and vocals and Sharon Gilchrist on bass.\n\n\n	\n Public ticket sales begin May 6\, 2026\, at noon Pacific. DESCRIPTION:A flatpicking bluegrass guitar legend with an international reputation for innovation\, taste and brilliance\, Dan Crary is one of the founding fathers of the flatpicking and “newgrass” movements in Americana and Bluegrass music. SUMMARY:Olatuja
DESCRIPTION:This new project finds Alicia and Michael Olatuja reuniting in music. OLATUJA blends Afro-Beat\, Jazz\, Funk\, and Soul. \nPraised by the New York Times as “a singer with a strong and luscious tone and an amiably regal presence on stage\,” Alicia Olatuja has been captivating audiences with her exquisite vocals and artistic versatility. She first came into the national spotlight while performing as the featured soloist with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration. Shortly thereafter\, she assembled her own jazz-based ensemble and recorded her first solo album. \n…from the start this band made rhythm paramount. Mr. Olatuja\, who grew up both Lagos\, Nigeria\, and London\, favors an amalgam of West African styles\, often overlaid with soul and gospel harmony. Ms. Olatuja is an American gospel singer with a strong\, lustrous tone and an amiable regal presence onstage.”- New York Times \n\n\n\n\n	\n Public ticket sales begin May 6\, 2026\, at noon Pacific.
