The Festival will open with the delightful Second Jazz Suite of Shostakovich, showing the light side of this composer. Award-winning violinist Livia Sohn will perform the thrilling Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto on her Guadagnini violin. Ending the program is the lyrical Symphony No. 7 of Prokofiev, warm and wonderful with melodies he originally wrote for children’s films. This is an evening to lift your spirits and gladden your heart.
Violinist Livia Sohn is a stunning musician… Every gesture leads inexorably to the next, equal parts logic and surprise. Sohn simply makes everything she plays musically significant, and that’s enough.”– Opus Magazine
