Beethoven Chamber 2

In what has become something of a Festival tradition, Julian Pollack will join Susan Waterfall on one piano for the Sonata for Piano 4 Hands in D Major, Op. 6, a two-movement exercise in pianistic flair. Beethoven wrote beautifully balanced works for strings and piano, and this concert will celebrate that mastery. Sam Weiser will be accompanied by Carolyn Steinbuck on the Sonata for Violin and Piano in F Major, “Spring.” Since its debut in 1811, the “Archduke Trio,” for violin, cello, and piano, has been considered one of his masterpieces, and Terrie Baune, Stephen Harrison, and Elizabeth Dorman will demonstrate why. Silvie Jensen will sing some of Beethoven’s songs and arias, accompanied by Kevin Korth on piano, proving that Beethoven wrote brilliantly for singers too.
